SOMETHING ELSE TO WASTE MY TIME . . . Although the benefits of having weekly staff meetings far outweigh the results of having staff meetings whenever, if your meeting isnt run correctly, I agree - it can very well be a waste of time. We always recommend our offices have weekly staff meetings. Schedule them for at least one hour on the same day of each week. AND, we always hear, . . . but what about the lost production time. . .? Yes, you are taking one hour out of one day in the week to plan the next 31 hours as well as reviewing the past 31 hours to make corrections for what didn't work and improvements on what did work.
Hmmmm, well, when you put it that way . . . And, like I said, the meeting must be run correctly. There must be a spokesperson to make certain the meeting starts on time and ends on time. We always suggest that you schedule your meeting BEFORE you see patients not after. If you schedule it when youre done. . . you'll be unsuccessful. When you want your staff meetings to be successful, there are a few things to keep in mind: No phones Cell phones are gone No Patients No food (if doing a meeting at lunch time, schedule eat time and set the start time for the meeting) 1.Focus on past results. 2.Plan future strategies. 3.Set new targets 1.For each other? 2.For our clients? 3.For the practice? To avoid overwhelm, when youre creating your agenda, design it around 4 different meetings per month. For example: Meeting #1 Business Meeting Meeting #2 Training Meeting #3 Organizational Meeting #4 Training Ill go into more detail on the 4 types of Meeting Agendas next time, as well as Department and Coordinator Meetings. |
